To be recognized as a Thoroughbred in Canada, horses foaled in Canada must be registered with the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (CTHS). Since 1906 the CTHS has had legal authority as the breed association, from the Animal Pedigree Act (a federal statute), as the official registrar of Thoroughbreds in Canada.
Welcome to CTHS National Online Registration, where you can electronically access the registration requirements for Canada.

CTHS asks that Breeders registering a foal be members of the CTHS with a completed & signed Membership Form on file and applicable fees paid to complete the registration. You may register your foal(s) as a non-member, however, the fee is significantly higher.
The Canadian Declaration Form must be completed, signed and submitted to the CTHS in addition to the fees to complete the registration.
Note: Some provinces require additional forms to be completed to gain Provincial Status.
Breeders/Owners have one year from the date of foaling to submit all requirements of
registration to the CTHS/The Jockey Club to avoid late fee penalties.
Late fees will increase after each deadline.
Schedule of Fees noted on both the Membership Application and Canadian Declaration Forms.
The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society is a national organization, incorporated under the Animal Pedigree Act, representing breeders of Thoroughbred horses in Canada. There are division offices in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
